ICS compression works with a bolt that runs up through the pro scooter fork and screws into a star nut inside of the pro scooter bar. The fork normally has a very large hollow diameter space has it needs no extra material for added resistance as you can see on the photos.
In comparison and on the pros side, ICS is the lightest and lowest cost scooter compression system available which justifies the fact that some top brands like Ethis DTC and District for instance still use it. On de cons side, ICS will require frequent adjustments and the risk of stripping the threads of the star nut is real. It also requires removal of the front scooter wheel for installation or making adjustments. Brands have started to weld the star nuts inside the bars to make them more stable.
ICS compression only works with standard size pro scooter bars or aluminum bars and requires a slit in the bar as well as a long allen key to install the bolt to the star nut inside the fork down tube.
